School is horrible. I am in the ECE program they pretty much tell you to quit your job and all you can do is this worthless program. I wasted $4000 on this program and its been nothing but hell on earth. Teacher's dont know what they are talking about half the time, while on black bored on my phone taking notes (cant read the power points nor are we aloud laptops in class), I am trying to keep up and teachers out right TAKE YOUR PHONE and places it on the front bored for EVERYONE to see! I was humiliated! Is this high school?! If you can, take your money and go else where. The secretaries are even worse. Rude, and completely cruel. Not to mention they changed the book list this year to new editions and told NO ONE ! So of course I bought all my books second hand, which are no longer in the curriculum since they are completely new books! I feel horrible for the second years who can't sell off their books anymore! Listen to me, take your money else where and stay far away from this trash school.

please read this review if you are thinking about the technology programs at this college I am writing this review to expose the technology department and their misconduct of monitoring the teachers. I had a bad experience at the school and the issue has been avoided and my complain was not treated as serious as it should be. next you will be reading exactly word for word about the issue. and the issue at hand is monitoring the teachers and their conduct. also my hard earned 400 dollars that is going to waste and they (people I have been in contact with) are not answering my question regarding the refund. #! I am currently enrolled in this class mentioned above and this is a formal complaint; To whom this may concern; My name is Saad Wadi, student ID is 100902934 I am complaining in regards to the teacher's conduct and method of carrying the class outline. this Saturday of March 23, 2013. Mr. Eduard Loiczli had given us an assignment that was beyond many of the students knowledge and capabilities and he was not even in class to further explain himself. He was attending other personal matters in a different class with 2 gentlemen whom he identified as other students who needed help in other matter. I personally told him that the assignment is beyond my understanding and that other student total of 2..are the only ones doing it right. and these 2 students were approaching the problem with PLC background. He came to the class room around 3:25 pm walked around and left again to attend to the matter mentioned above. then I became very frustrated and left at exactly 3:45 pm, He was not back in class yet. He was in the same location with 2 other gentlemen. I feel insulted and very unsatisfied with this matter. this defently changed my outlook on Geogre Brown college. I am not happy to even complain. because I still want to attend the class. But serously dont feel like Im going to learn much due to this experience. I would like my full amount refunded and I need confirmation please. I can't continue with this class. do NOT drop me out of the course until you tell me your decision of refunding me the full amount. I look forward to hearing from you Thanks her respons I am sorry to hear that the instructor was not available to you when you needed him to be. Working with Relay logic in the practical lab is quite daunting and lengthy for anyone. As the course is already half complete I would like to encourage you to continue with the course. The instructor is aware of the diversity of learning levels in the class and will be paying special attention to those who find this aspect of the course challenging. He will be providing one on one instruction and tutoring during class. It is our intention to make sure that every student has a positive experience and successful outcome. Please feel free to email me again or speak with me in person in my office should this arrangement not be to your satisfaction. All the best, Jill Jill Mulholland CE Coordinator Manufacturing, HVAC & ICT email#2 I am determined to move forward with my initial decision and would like full refund please..I have given the instructor the benefit of a doubt but last Saturday was an indication of his negligence and I refuse to put myself through it again. My decision is final. Please let me know weather I'm getting full refund or not‚ so I can take further action and drop out of the course. Thank you Hello Saad, As the course is now half complete, you are eligible to withdraw from the course without academic penalty. In the email below the offer for additional tutoring has been made should you wish to remain in the course. I have notified the manager, Joseph Sirianni, about your complaint. He is copied in this email. Please feel free to email Mr. Sirianni. Kind regards, Jill and the Gentleman Joseph Sirianni didnt even bother to email or anything, so I called and left a message. then he called and I missed the call, but he left no message, so I called again and left another message but still no respond.

I'm a student in the School of Business, and quite frankly, it is an embarrassment to go to this school. It is honestly just one scandal after another. A few years ago, it was the college misleading its students and job prospects and certifications. This year, they replaced a very well-known professor with one month left in the semester, yes, you read that right, with ONE freakin' month left in the semester, and replaced him with someone who can barely speak English! The college has offerred no explanation, and the professor was very beloved by the students. The school of business administration led by Elizabeth Speers, Maureen Loweth, and eventually Ann Sado, are the most incompetent administrators and after one mistake after another, they need to be removed from their positions. I have had personal contact with the Maureen Loweth, and she seems to be just some glorified bureaucrat. I am told that it was Elizabeth Speers' decision to hire the incompetent, non-English speaking replacements, which shows her incompetence. Basically, the first opportunity I get, I am out of here, and I would strongly discourage anyone looking for a decent business education to go somewhere else, maybe Seneca, otherwise you will be in for one roller coaster ride after the next.

WARNING ABOUT GEORGE BROWN COLLEGE. IMPORTANT THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT GEORGE BROWN COLLEGE. INTERNATIONAL STUDENTS AND LOCAL STUDENTS. You have to consider these advices before you register George Brown College any Business programs, Accounting programs, and DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY. 1.George Brown college was sued by students for misleading students about international business programs, and students won the case, George Brown college lost the case. The program promised students to be qualified professionals by association but it was not. 2. They get very less transfer credits from university. Business program, and accounting course outlines are very poorly done, and there are so many mistakes for many years, they do not change it. 3.If you look at the program courses, and course outlines, majority of the courses are general courses kept repeating same subjects, so when students graduate, they barely take major courses to be qualified. Watch out. 4. Management force teachers to pass some students who are not successful. Management do that so that students do not leave the school. Truth is management get money from government per student registered. They no longer care to give honest or good quality of service, they do it to secure their money from government. 5. Part-time faculties treated poorly and they do not have place to meet students, they do not have offices. They think their contract more than they think students. 6. Management assign major courses to teachers who have no clue about subject. Do not waste your money. 7. They always do false advertising to public, their recent advertising is that "WE KNOW WHAT EMPLOYER WANTS" Don't get fooled by that they do not treat their own staff with respect, they are treated very poorly. They need to learn it themselves before they teach you. It is a false advertising. 8-Managment do not care about students need, administrative department work very poorly. I heard with my own ears that administrative staff at accounting program swear at students. Choose it wisely. Be smart. Some students choose it because of downtown, be smart investor, and choose it carefully.

I studied Graphic Design here, and ended up in Japan teaching English. So I used the graphic design skills and ideas that they taught me in George Brown to compete with huge schools in Japan by designing full colour posters, with Corel Draw software, and then photocopying the design prints, at the local 7 11 and convenience stores called Family Mart, and putting the signs up on poles, and public display places, to get students. The point is George Brown helped keep me working in Japan in a very competitive market by teaching me confidence in the skills I had learned, and graphic design. So that is why, George Brown, is a cool school, that rules. :)

Its really a wonderful opportunity to be student at George brown College. I found the college as a great platform where we get chances to explore an array of opportunities. I am grateful to the supportive team at admission office to name them Gary Hoyer for providing me the right instructions, ideas and counseling. I am also thankful to Laurence Yip for his every support and guidance right from processing application to admission guidelines. I am amazed by the Financial aid office receptionist Andrea Brown who is really brilliant and well informed about the student support. She has given me every guidelines for applying the OSAP and other possible grants. Thank you all for your personal care, prompt reply to my correspondence and practical counseling to the students.

Worst customer service & no effective advice provided to potential students. They also show no respect for people and no willingness to help out except asking for money. The call centre is slow and the lady who answered the phone was very rude. Apparently, their staff do not care about the students' career and personal development. Since I have many other options and the price is not that different, I would never take any course from them unless they have personnel changes to meet a similar standard other colleges/universities provide. Also, contrary to some other people's opinion, their staff are not flexible. BTW, they also lost millions dollars in a law suit because of their lack of credibility. Check it out yourself on the Toronto Star.

I would never hire certain George Brown grads. They complimented university grads because they think university grads are flat out better. You either go to George Brown because you can't afford university, didn't have the grades for an engineering degree, thought other schools were too demanding, self conscious, were a troublesome student, know English as a second language, want to contribute to society using hands on application, or want to supplement work with education part-time in continuing ed. There are a lot of rejects that don't know their place based on their character. It has nothing to do with ethnicity or socio-economic status.

tl;dr, a generally negative review. I enrolled in the Electro-mechanical Technician program and after 2 semesters I am very confused and tired. I do not enjoy most of the teaching methods that the professors use and some of them seem to get easily irritated if you ask them questions. Based on the concepts that are being taught, I feel like I should know more about electronics but the truth of the matter is that I can't explain what some components are and what function they serve. In some occasions, certain electronic components were never explained clearly and the only thing taught was the related formula(s).I learned more about electronics by reading the related textbook on a 4 hour flight than the entire first semester. Some of the classes were enjoyable and a few of the professors had great methods and attitude. Our prof for personal finance and small business planning was very enthusiastic for Monday mornings and some of the more related courses were well taught. The class size for the first semester machining course was too big however, as the prof was unable to provide more personal help. He was constantly bombarded by students asking him for help and I feel like he needed a full time TA for that. The social environment at this campus is also very sterile, especially in the summer months, where most of the social and student events would be happening at the other campuses. I feel compelled to leave a review on google because the student surveys would not do justice and I am giving the experience a generous 3/5 stars.

I went here for Doors Open Toronto and I really enjoyed it. I didn't enjoy the inside of the building (it's like any other inside of a building on campus) but Sugar Beach and the view from the top of the building made up for the boredom inside.

This place is just about a scam. I purchased their online PLC programming course. It isn't a course, it is a digital copy of a book, to progress through each topic you're required to click 'next', read another paragraph, eventually you will be served a copy of code that is supposed to illustrate what you've just read, every several paragraphs you take a test (which was an inoperative function on the program I ended up with). After a couple dozen tests you will be given a certificate. There is no real training, feedback, questions answered, etc. One thing that is odd, is that if you search for 'online PLC training' you will undoubtably be served results from what appear to be a few different companies, but are really all George Brown College. Recently George Brown College is no longer a result of a Google search for 'George Brown College'. When searching 'George Brown College' the result that I see now (George Brown College Waterfront Campus' (as of 6/16/15)) no longer includes the Google reviews for the original listing (incidentally I gave them both barrels on that listing as well).

Hi….I was student for fitness and life style management in 2008. I successfully completed 2 semester and in 3rd semester they failed me in one course just because I was nervous and couldn’t perform the exercise accurately. After failing in that course means I have to wait for another year to get back to that program. What a waste of time. How illiterate those program organizer leaving no option to student. In first year they had 55 student and in 2nd year only 10 to 15 actually finishing diploma. I was international al student at that time and had no experience of new country otherwise I would have sued them. I had no option to get admission in humber college and finish my program and never opted to work as a personal trainer. What a waste of time for 2 years but I did understand about health care system in canada. I will never suggest that program or that college to anyone. Thanks

It could certainly use improvement. The biggest issue in my opinion is getting students interested and keeping them interested in the classes. The classes really feel like they set up to have you sit down and memorize what the text book says which does not make much room for in class discussions and debates. The smart thing to do would be to attempt to get the text books in advance and learn the material beforehand.

The problem is the teachers at this college. Plain and simple. George Brown needs to hire qualified instructors who have gone to a teachers college. George Brown has money but the flashy gadgets are mostly a show that never gets utilized. The quality of education is lousy and fit for those who do not need to be challenged. Please understand that this college needs to have more oversight and actually teach the students not read the text book in classes. that is all thanks a

I attended the George Brown College School of Business and graduated with an advanced diploma (three year program) in Marketing in April 2012. I had a great experience with all but two of my professors throughout my time at GBC and found the educational experience to be great. My classes after the first year weren’t huge, the cost of college (like the rest of Canada) is affordable and it’s located in downtown Toronto, which I enjoyed.

George Brown offered a joke of an education. I enrolled in the PSW program of fall 2010. The program felt so special ed it hurt. It was by far the worst investment of both my time and money. Teachers were disorganized and often appeared to be meeting minimum requirements which I don’t feel were worthy of a paycheck. Exams were often presented with spelling errors with repeated and unrelated questions. Lessons in the lab were very poor, in the sense that students struggled to hear/see the lesson/lecture and were shunned when they they asked questions (mean while teachers catered to numerous students who constantly asked questions that had already been answered in class and ORIENTATION). It appeared that the teachers were challenged with effective lesson plans as multiple classes were filled with free conversation and slides that I could have covered myself at home in less than an hour. Teachers also struggled to redirect the class back to lessons when getting off track. Assignments were far from a being academically stimulating resulting in little interest, zero motivation, and the desire to smash my head into my keyboard. The UNIFORMS were rediculously overpriced. Students were encouraged to purchase a minimum of two uniforms so they could wear a clean one each day-FREE from bodily fluids and illnesses- but since no one could afford to splurge $80 on uniforms, they were forced to spend more money on laundry or spread the filth around-yum yum. I mean really, I could purchase EIGHT uniforms for the same price at a second hand store. There is no purpose the GB uniform can provide that a nametag would not suffice (which was also priced at nifty $8-$12 until a teacher spoke up on our behalf, woot!) A horrible experience for way too much stress and money. George Brown is NOT graduating the best of the best and I highly recommend students enroll elsewhere for a “real education”..especially in the PSW program. Also I would like to add that they are considering adding english and math? (most likely similar to the basics offered in elementary school since half the class were immigrants) So if you’d like to pay good money to shoot the shit and repeat elementary school with a special Ed. twist, get in line!! GOOD LUCK TO ALL!!! especially those already trapped at GB. I should also add on a positive note, that as messed up as the program was, some of the teachers were very passionate about their work at times but I guess they were just overwhelmed with their own lives or over ruled by the higher powers at GB because I know they could have done better. And hey, you’re the one paying…so get it together George Brown!

I started here in September of this year (2015) and am a mature student. Being 35 without any further education outside highschool, this collage is very accommodating. I have a learning disability which has been a road block for me in the past. The school provides everything necessary to ensure success... As long as you complete your assignments, readings, and participate in class everyone will bend over backwards to help you understand the material. The culture is entirely student focussed. Lots of activities, free tutoring, free counselling if you need it, and two tim Horton's onsite. Best decision I ever made.

This is my favourite george brown location for a few reasons. One, it is incredibly easy to get to either by :A streetcar 504 right there or 501 then walk south a couple blocks B subway to king station then walk eastAlso. You have the chef college here where at lunchtime you can purchase the fresh food the school made that day for as little as 3-5 dollars Finally, in spring and summer the rooftop patio is great to sit at to relax.

I'm not actually a registered student here. Just come here frequently to meet up with friends and/or my bio tutor. There's always a tonne of people hanging around trying to help you with stuff. Welcome staff are awesome. Security staff are friendly but fair. They enforce the no smoking around doors, 9 metres from the building stuff etc.Compared to UofT (my alma mater), I often feel underdressed here. People don't just walk around in hoodies and sweatpants with greasy hair (which is fairly standard at UofT). I often see high heels, smell perfume and EVEN *gasp* see make-up. So yeah, consider showering if you wanna blend in.

Thank you to the GBC services that are offered at the campus. The staff are really helpful and I highly recommend for students to use the career centre for help with job findings, resume, cover letters, interview skills, etc. they're quite helpful and Irene has helped me a lot :).. Thanks to her a got a job interview less than two weeks since she helped me clean up my résumé and pushed me to drop in my résumé in person. I'm really happy about that! The library is actually a noisy place to study depending what time of day you go. I suggest to go either on the 4th or 5th floor.. Much more quieter.

George Brown is a small local college offering courses in applied arts and technology. They've been around since 67 and have always managed a high level of education and are known for their cooking stream.I've been going here for about a month now for a night class and while I can't say I'm in love with the place, it's not bad. It feels like a smaller compact version of a university student building. There's an "express" style store for almost everything you'd expect at U of T or York. Tiny book store, tiny computer store, iddy-biddy magazine shop and so on.The facilities don't seem any better or worse than other campuses I've been to. Well lit break out rooms with comfy couches can be found everywhere. The elevators feature both up and down buttons? I don't know, it's a school. If you're looking for a refresher course in some basic office applications or you want to become a fully qualified chef then George Brown has you covered. You will actually learn quite a lot more than you would in a two-day seminar and pay a fraction of the cost.

I decided to help my friend with registration since they made a mistake. When I tried to reach staff members, no one answered the phone. Nor did I receive an adequate email reply. They have a contact centre set up to take student inquiries, but the agent did not have enough knowledge or authority to provide assistance with the issue. I've heard from former students that the women working at the business office allegedly show attitude towards students. What is the purpose of working in administration if you do not wish to help students but rather pass them off to another person or department? I previously took a few classes here myself and I only had one decent teacher. Even the rest of the class used to complain about the teaching quality.

Good learning experience for me. Electives were fun but a little too watered down to be interesting or challenging. Bonus is that it makes school "easier". Basically you get what pay for here. HR courses could have used more real-life, stress inducing role plays for Training and Development and Recruitment. Good teachers. Helpful MOST (78%) of the time.

Third rate school with third rate professors and administration. The School of Business has taken a major hit recently, and the quality of the education is horrendous. Least accessible school I have been to. Disability Services will get angry at students and argue with them rather than help them, and promise one thing and then not deliver. Randomly schedule changes, with no warning aside from a random link you have to poke around to actually find. Teachers are okay, but I would question how much many of them know. I would question their grasp of English too in some cases, because there would be three answers for one question all saying the same thing in a slightly different way, which leaves you guessing what they think the correct wording is rather than what the actual answer is. Teachers don't accept doctors notes and require a college illness verification form to be filled out, which costs more than a doctors note some places, but they insist no doctor will charge you for completing it. Financial aid knows nothing about OSAP, Counselling will see you once and tell you to go somewhere else. They have a food bank and a food market, but won't tell you where it is. Disability Services and many professors will ignore your emails. The program coordinators won't do anything to help you in any situation. Etc. Course content is great, at times. But this place is administrative hell. Go to Sheridan, or Humber. Or Seneca. George Brown would almost make a great double for the show Community, without the fun.

This day care is by far the worst I have came across. Due to most kids there are from student families being subsidized by government, this daycare charges higher price and provides poor services. Government s money is easy to make. You have to pick up at 5:30pm, they don't send kids to kindergarten (you have to swnd to jk or sk by yourself). Most caregivers don't do too much to teach or develop kids, I only saw them always sitting around looking at kids by themselves, except one or two carewgivers. Doesn't matter as money is out of government, parents is willing to send kids here as its in the same building as the UofT family house, and they can make easy money. As I don't have government subsidies, my kid only stayed here for a few months. I sent her to a cheaper place with muchmuch better service east of yonge street less than 10 mins walk away.

One of the best college here in Toronto. Spent a year at St James and the next three years at Casa Loma and I had a great time here.

If you aren't inspired by the awesome teachers, be inspired by the architecture and student work displayed all around.

Although many instructors are a PhD graduate, they can be low average instructors. They do not prepare to come for teaching in the classroom. One of my classes was terrible: it was started at 9.30 (schedule is 9), stopped for a break almost an hour (routine is 30 mins), and ended 10 mins before schedule time. Another class, instructors often said "I feel, write this way is correct" without explanation. ????.

I'm thinking of enrolling here for the Art and Design program. Can anyone give me feedback about the program and the teachers. Are they good or not?

Mixed bag of a college. Depending on what your studying and who's your professor. Some professors have questionable quirks or are strict , others are too relax/easy. Personally I prefer the strict professors as they say what they mean and treat everyone the same. No extensions for those that ask.The school does change up the professor if there is a problem, though they can only remove a professor after the term ends/ if the problem is made clear to management. Like any other large learning institution ,organization is always an issue of some sort. Would I say GBC is a poor school? no, is it prefect? no. You get what you put into it. Just don't go into gemology or fashion design and expect better pay then the construction or engineering programs. Your a college student , not a university student expect to start out as a green horn. Study something with some pay behind it and further your education after GBC. The school can only teaches you what you want to learn, when you attend ,with some effort on your part. Getting a good job after your program is your job. You need to research the career field ,check that it pays and hires students. If your studying dance expect to be paid and treated like a dancer, same as for fashion, millwright, tool and die, IT, plumbing, carpentry ,etc... Doesn't help the economy is in poor shape. Welcome to adult life.

why is it not in the news about the nursing student that was worked to the point of collapsing in the bathroom from exhaustion. she was found without vital signs. she eventually passed away the nursing program is inhumane. the teachers are rude and arrogant. and the rules change on a daily basis depending on the financial needs of george brown college. how do they get away with it. is there no governing body over the program? or is it all about the money. i think we know the answer. George brown nursing is a farce

I studied under a great guidance from John Dutton the most expert in the feild and all gas fitters study from the books he has written in Canada I fully endorsed this school for people in tradesmen.

Okay, for construction engineering. Some profs are rude or don't know what they are doing. Mostly decent profs.

I applied for an online course with George Brown , costs me around 300 USD , after a month of study i finished the course and asked for my certificate , they asked me to pay fees for it !!! i answered i only need a soft-copy through my email as i am living outside Canada ,even if i paid the requested fees OK i agree ... surprisingly they asked me to mail them an application request and pay the fees .. like we are living in the stone ages !!! ... after contacting each email in the college asks for any soft-copy certificate for the course i have finished and paid for ,it`s unfair to pay 150 USD for express mail just to send a request .At the end the final answer came that the course i have finished dose not have a certificate ...... What a lost of time and money i paid for this institute ... i really feel sorry i applied for this course and feel glad i didn`t attend any of its full programs. All of the information i mentioned is original and i have email proving this
